The Akron RubberDucks, a Double-A affiliate of the Cleveland Indians, will host a themed night mocking the recently suspended NBC News anchor.
The Akron RubberDucks, the Cleveland Indians' Double-A affiliate team, have announced they will hold a "Brian Williams' Pants-on-Fire Night" night on April 27th, which happens to be National Tell a Story Day.
Other activities will include "a between-inning chance for fans to audition to be the next television news anchor on the video board, with the fan-voted winner's video sent to NBC" and "On-field contests, including 'To Tell the Truth' and 'Two Truths & a Brian Williams,'" also known as "Two Truths and a Lie."
The RubberDucks are also seeking a fan named Brian Williams to throw out the first pitch, read "tall tales," and offer up a pair of pants to be lit aflame in a "'pants on fire' ceremony."
Earlier this week, NBC News announced Brian Williams—of NBC Nightly News, not an Akron-based baseball fan—will be suspended for six months without pay after it was revealed he "misremembered" an incident that took place in Iraq in 2003.

Apart from crushing Pakistan’s World Cup dreams time and again LOL.
During the India vs. Pakistan post-match interview on Sunday, Rameez Raja compared Virat Kohli to Sachin Tendulkar.
Raja asked Man of the Match Virat Kohli how it feels to handle the burden of expectation, because Kohli is "kind of a new Sachin Tendulkar" for the Indian fans.

At which point, all the Indian fans at the Adelaide Oval went positively apeshit. While Virat just smiled.

On Tuesday, Alex Rodriguez issued a handwritten apology "To the Fans," saying he accepts "full responsibility" for his actions.
A-Rod was suspended for the entire 2014 season, and is signed to the Yankees through the 2017 season. After a season off, and a 40th birthday in July, it has yet to be determined the capacity and extent in which the Yankees will use him this season.

Late Thursday, the Raiders and Chargers released a joint statement saying they've proposed a shared stadium in Carson, California, just outside of Los Angeles.

We are pursuing this stadium option in Carson for one straightforward reason: If we cannot find a permanent solution in our home markets, we have no alternative but to preserve other options to guarantee the future economic viability of our franchises.
The Raiders have been famously searching to get out of O.co Coliseum in Oakland, which they share with the Oakland A's. The Chargers have also been seeking a new stadium in San Diego without much luck.

That is, if all of these deals go through. Teams have long used the prospect of a move to Los Angeles as leverage against their current host cities when seeking a new stadium.
They’re also tweaking their newly-implemented instant replay rules.
MLB and the MLB Players Association have announced a plan to speed up the pace of games. In 2014, games averaged 3.13 hours.
Rick Scuteri / AP Photo
● Batters must keep at least one foot inside the batter's box during at-bats.
● There will be clocks installed to enforce a return to game play sooner after commercial breaks. "Immediately following the third out of each half-inning, the timer will count down from 2:25 for locally televised games and from 2:45 for nationally televised games." Pitchers will be allowed to throw warm-up pitches up until there are 30 seconds left on the clock, and batters should be in the batter's box with at least 20 second left.
Players found in violation of these rules will be subject to warnings and fines, but MLB does not intend to use added strikes & balls to the pitch count as a form of punishment.
● Managers will now remain in the dugout for replay challenges. Last season, during MLB's first season with instant replay, fans grew used to watching managers slowly pace out to the mound to discuss whether or not to challenge a call. Now, MLB says, "managers may hold play from the top step of the dugout by signaling to players and the home plate umpire that he is considering a challenge."
Other tweaks to the instant replay system are included in the MLB/MLBPA statement:
● A manager will retain his challenge after every call that is overturned. Last year, a manager retained his challenge only after the first overturned call.
● During Postseason games, regular season tiebreaker games and the All-Star Game, managers will now have two challenges per game.
These changes represent a step forward in our efforts to streamline the pace of play. The most fundamental starting point for improving the pace of the average game involves getting into and out of breaks seamlessly. In addition, the batter's box rule will help speed up a basic action of the game.
The Players believe that enforcing the rules that currently exist regarding between inning breaks and plate appearances is the best way to address the issue of pace of play. We're confident that today's announcements will have a positive impact on the pace of the game without jeopardizing the integrity of the competition.
Ugh, love. Gross.
Just when you thought Valentine's Day was over and you didn't have to see anymore adorable public displays of affection, swimming superstar (and occasional drunk driver) Michael Phelps posted this engagement photo on Instagram.
His bride-to-be is Nicole Johnson, who was Miss California in 2010. Here the pair can be seen celebrating their love/reminding you how single you are.
It's been a long, cold winter for you, hasn't it?
Phelps will be back in the pool on March 6 at the end of a six-month suspension from USA Swimming over his second drunk-driving arrest, after which he went into rehab.
Congrats to the happy couple on ~taking the plunge~.

A task force for soccer’s global governing body made the announcement following a meeting in Doha amid fears that the heat in the country during a traditional summer World Cup would endanger fans and players.
A task force for FIFA, world soccer's governing body, recommended after a meeting in Doha on Tuesday that the 2022 World Cup in Qatar take place in November and December.

The announcement follows many months of speculation that the tournament would be moved from its traditional summer slot to the northern hemisphere's winter over fears that the searing Qatari summer temperatures would pose a risk to both players and fans.
The tiny Gulf state can soar above 40 degrees Celsius (104 Fahrenheit) in summer , while in November and December temperatures drop to around mid-20s Celsius (75 Fahrenheit), the BBC reported.
It is expected that the recommendation will be ratified at a meeting of FIFA's executive committee in Zurich on March 18–19, the BBC said.
FIFA faced a number of issues when deciding on what date to hold the contest. Not only would a move to winter mean a mid-season break for dozens of domestic league seasons around the world, but it had to avoid clashing with a number of other global sporting and religious events.
Given that the two bidding cities for the 2022 Winter Olympics - Almaty (Kazakhstan) and Beijing (China PR) - pledged recently to host the winter games from 4 to 20 February 2022; that the month of Ramadan begins on 2 April in 2022; and that consistently hot conditions prevail from May to September in Qatar, the only remaining effective option is the November/December window. For legal reasons, the 22nd edition of the FIFA World Cup must be played within the calendar year 2022.

After much anticipation, the Cleveland Browns have unveiled their brand new logo for 2015. At first I was surprised. Then I was amazed. By the end, my entire life had changed.
Here is the old Cleveland Browns logo. Understated and tasteful, but very 2014. This is not a logo that is going to work well in the second half of the 'teens.
Without further ado HERE is the brand new Browns logo for a new era.

Monday's WWE Raw saw WWE divas Paige and Emma take on The Bella Twins... in a match lasting just over 30 seconds.
Short matches on WWE television are very common, but the fact that the only divas match on a three-hour show got this amount of time has had people take to Twitter to protest the treatment of the WWE diva division.
WWE Diva A.J. Lee has lashed out at WWE executive Stephanie McMahon on Twitter over the unfair pay and screen time given to female wrestlers.
This is A.J. Lee. She's a WWE Diva, the name given to female wrestlers in WWE.
She's a three-time WWE Divas Champion and one of the most popular female wrestlers in the roster today. She's currently out of action, recovering from neck-related injuries.
The teams from Riverdale High School and Smyrna High School, both in suburbs of Nashville, were removed from the playoffs, placed on probation for a year, and fined $1,500 by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association.
Two Tennessee high school girls basketball teams have been removed from the postseason after they both tried to intentionally lose a game against each other.
In letters to both schools, the TSSAA said that the programs were being punished because the teams made a "mockery of the game" by trying to lose on purpose.
The TSSAA said they did so because neither wanted to be seeded third in the post-season tournament.
According to an account by the game's referee, Riverdale started out in a 2-3 zone, which was not usual for the team.
The Smyrna coach soon realized what was going on, according to the referee, and decided to swap in his second team. Riverdale then did so as well.
Commissioner Rob Manfred says the league is still working to set a well-structured domestic violence policy.

The Oakland Athletics, Kansas City Royals, and Chicago Cubs will be the first teams to attend the courses, which will be coordinated by Futures Without Violence, a San Francisco-based nonprofit that takes a multi-point approach to ending violence against women.
Futures Without Violence was founded by Esta Soler, a leading advocate for the Violence Against Women Act during its passing in 1994. Futures Against Violence has existing programs specifically aimed to educate and motivate men to prevent domestic violence.
Players who are not on the 40-man roster during spring training will attend a separate domestic violence education program.
In addition to educating players about the impact of violence and abuse, a spokeswoman for Futures Against Violence said in a statement to BuzzFeed News that players will be engaged in a series of exercises intended to promote healthy relationships, to encourage players to seek support, and to speak up if they are concerned that violence may be occurring.
In December 2014, representatives from professional sports leagues, and their respective players unions, attended a Senate hearing to address domestic violence in sports. Though the NFL took most of the heat during the hearing, Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri pointed out that during his 22 years as MLB commissioner, Bud Selig never once punished a player for domestic violence.
On Tuesday, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred said the league is working with the MLB Players Association to implement a new disciplinary policy for incidents of domestic violence.
Per the Associated Press, "Baseball's collective bargaining agreement...allows the commissioner or a team to impose discipline, but doesn't say of what sort, if a player is charged with a crime 'involving the use of physical force or violence, including but not limited to, sexual assault, domestic violence, resisting arrest, battery, and assault.'"
Former University of Louisville guard Chris Jones was charged with raping one woman and sodomizing another. Jones pleads not guilty.

The Courier-Journal reports that the warrant for Jones' arrest says that the alleged sexual assaults occurred on Sunday, February 22, and that the accusers were hospitalized and identified Jones as an assailant.
The woman recognized Jones "as a University of Louisville basketball player" according to the warrant.
Another warrant says that Jones, along with two others, forced a woman to perform oral sex and intercourse. She was taken to the hospital where she also identified Jones.
One of the women is 19 and another woman is 20, according to the warrant.
Two other men are charged along with Jones, Tyvon Walker and Jalen Tilford, each charged with one count of rape and one count of sodomy.
Jones plead not guilty to the charges on Thursday. His lawyers said in court that he is falsely accused.
Shortly after a video of Lebron James Jr.’s skills went viral, his dad revealed that colleges have already reached out to his son with offers.
At 10 years old, Lebron James Jr. has already shown promise as a successful athlete, and scouts are already expressing interest in recruiting him for college ball.
Seriously, the kid is GOOD. Here he is dominating at John Lucas All-Star Weekend, one of the most competitive youth basketball tournaments in the country.
The video was posted on Feb. 23 and has more than 4.7 million views on YouTube.
In an interview with a local radio station in Detroit on Tuesday, Lebron James admitted that his son has recently garnered the attention of some university athletic departments.
"Yeah, he's already got some offers from colleges," he said. "It's pretty crazy. It should be a violation. You shouldn't be recruiting 10-year-old kids."
That's not to say the Cleveland Cavalier forward does not recognize his son's prowess on the court, and how similarly the two play the game.
"It's crazy, he plays just like I did. He has great awareness and he'd rather pass first and set guys up. Most kids nowadays just want to score."
The elder James did not specify which colleges had reached out to his son, or discuss the scholarships they offered.
