Donald Sterling Threatens To Sue The NBA, Says He Will Not Pay $2.5 Million Fine
The Clippers owner maintains he did nothing wrong.
According to news reports, antitrust lawyer Maxwell Blecher sent a letter to the NBA Thursday on behalf of Donald Sterling, stating client's intent to sue and that he will not pay the $2.5 million fine, which is now past due.
In the letter, Belcher says his client's actions were not in violation of the NBA constitution and that Sterling's "due process rights" were not upheld.

The NBA says Donald Sterling's racist remarks violated a clause in the NBA constitution that forbids statements that "effect prejudicial or detrimental to the best interests of basketball or of the Association."

If the NBA were a federal agency or a state college, Sterling might have a good argument [on his due process rights], as those are public entities that must provide safeguards found under the U.S. Constitution and state constitutions. The problem for Sterling is that the NBA is a private association and is not required to provide due process rights. Sterling, moreover, contractually assented to the NBA's system of justice through various contracts, including his franchise agreement to purchase the Clippers and the joint venture agreement, which indicates the NBA has binding authority over the teams.
Despite the letter's insistence that he has done nothing wrong, Sterling asked Anderson Cooper earlier this week, "Am I entitled to one mistake? It’s a terrible mistake, and I’ll never do it again.”

Mexican World Cup Players Can't Have Sex Or Eat Meat
Head coach Miguel Herrera doesn’t want his players scoring off the field.
Mexico's national team strategy heading into the 2014 World Cup is all about being aggressive: A 5-3-2 formation, swift starts, and… pent-up sexual and gastronomic frustration?
Henry Romero / Reuters
Head coach Miguel "El Piojo" Herrera has banned his players from eating red meat and discouraged them from having sex in the days leading up to the tournament in Brazil.
A move that has some questioning whether the smiles in this epic selfie are feigned.
The ban on beef is actually precautionary.
In 2011, five Mexico players tested positive for a muscle-building drug called clenbuterol, which apparently has been used in Mexico to fatten cattle.

The players were eventually cleared by the Mexican Football Federation and the World Anti-Doping Agency, but Herrera isn't taking any chances this time around.
"Our training center has determined, based on what happened in the past, that red meat shouldn't be eaten," he said, depriving the poor guys of this for the next month.

They play in white, but most importantly their shirt is emblazoned with a cheetah.
They are raising awareness of Asiatic cheetahs, which are facing extinction. That makes their shirts pretty much the coolest shirts at the world cup.
They're the highest ranked Asian team in the official FIFA rankings, at 37.
Which is a source of great pride for the country.
Iran has never made it out of the group stages at the World Cup, but qualified in 1978, 1998 and 2006.
Their biggest victory was likely eliminating the USA in 1998, after a 2-1 win.
11 Reasons You Should Support Belgium, The Dark Horse Of Brazil 2014
There are more than 10 famous Belgians now…
They play in red, and have been given the not entirely original nickname of 'The Red Devils.'
Historically, Belgium haven't been a great team. Their best World Cup to date was coming fourth in 1986.
At the time, they were led by Jan Ceulemans.
Otherwise, they've mostly been eliminated in the very early rounds, before failing to qualify for any major tournament since 2002.
That includes as recently as Euro 2012.
But within a few years, a new generation of players has emerged, and Belgium has managed to build a very competitive team.
The highlight of this recent period was a 4-2 win over the consistently strong Netherlands, where they demolished their geographic neighbours with brilliant attacking football.
Aaron Hernandez Allegedly Killed Two People Over A Spilled Drink
The former Patriots tight end plead not guilty to two charges of first-degree murder in a Massachusetts court.
On Wednesday, Aaron Hernandez was arraigned on charges involving the 2012 murders of Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado. Prosecutors argued the incident began when one of the victims bumped into Hernandez and spilled his drink at a Boston-area nightclub.

Prosecutors say Hernandez became very agitated after the spilled drink, waited for Abreu and Furtado to leave in their car, followed them in his car, yelled, "Yo, what's up now?" as they sat at a red light, and unloaded a .38-caliber pistol into the men.

They were the first African nation to defeat a European nation at the World Cup when they beat West Germany back in 1982.
The Algerian's first appearance at the World Cup began with a huge 2-1 upset over the heavily favored and incredibly arrogant West German side, who joked prior to the match that, "we will dedicate our seventh goal to our wives, and the eighth to our dogs."
However they haven't scored a World Cup goal since 1986.
The Algerians didn't score a single goal during their 2010 trip to South Africa.

Lance Stephenson Tries To Distract LeBron James By Blowing In His Ear
It looks even better in slow motion.
Indiana Pacers guard Lance Stephenson came up with a rather unusual way of trying to distract Miami Heat’s LeBron James during Game 5 of the Eastern Conference finals on Wednesday.
Blowing in his ear.
Stephenson's antics in Game 5 may have helped though, with the Pacers winning 93-90 and James contributing just seven points – a playoff career low.
The Heat currently lead the series 3-2, with Game 6 taking place in Miami on Friday.

Steve Ballmer Signs Deal To Buy L.A. Clippers For $2 Billion

LOS ANGELES — Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer will buy the Los Angeles Clippers for $2 billion, the Associated Press reported Thursday. Ballmer's bid sets a record price for an NBA team and beat out a $1.6 billion bid from a group led by David Geffen, as well as a $1.2 billion bid from an investor group headed up by Tony Ressler and Bruce Karsh.
Ballmer and Clippers co-owner Shelly Sterling signed a "binding contract" for the sale Thursday, according to a statement from Sterling's lawyer. The statement describes Sterling as the "sole trustee" of the family trust that owns the team, meaning she would have had the authority to act alone.
Still unclear, however, is what role her estranged husband and team co-owner Donald Sterling will have in the sale. ESPN reported Thursday Donald has been found to be "mentally incapacitated" by experts. If true, that diagnosis would reportedly allow Shelly to move forward with the sale without Donald's consent. However, when asked if Donald's approval is needed, his attorney Max Blecher told BuzzFeed Thursday that "we think it is." Blecher also told BuzzFeed that Sterling has "not consented to any actual or prospective sale."
Neither Blecher nor Shelly's attorneys responded to BuzzFeed's request for comment on the alleged incapacitation.
Shelly met with Ballmer earlier this week and has been moving quickly to sell the team even as the NBA works to oust the family over her husband's racist comments. And looming on the horizon for the Sterlings was a June 3 hearing at which the NBA's Board of Governors planned to vote on terminating the family's ownership of the team.
In the statement from her attorney, Shelly said she is "delighted that we are selling the team to Steve, who will be a terrific owner."
Donald has been unclear about whether or not he would oppose the sale. Earlier this week, a 27-page document indicated he planned to fight the NBA's efforts to oust him.
